At ChiroFit Chicago, we understand the demands of CrossFit because we've lived it.

Dr. Dave has been a lifelong athlete, collegiate basketball player, scratch golfer, and CrossFit Games athlete. A key part of his journey in chiropractic care has been improving both his patients' health and his own. Over his 13-plus-year CrossFit journey, he has been a patient multiple times, successfully recovering from two patellar tendon ruptures (both basketball-related) and a torn right shoulder labrum.

Through meticulous attention to detail during rehab, he consistently beat recovery timelines and returned to movement better than before his injuries. Following each injury, he competed at multiple Masters-level CrossFit events, including Wodapalooza, the Legends Championships, and the 2023 CrossFit Games.

His recovery strategy involved resuming modified workouts almost immediately post-surgery. This approach not only maintained his strength and endurance, but also significantly accelerated his recovery. The methods used at Chirofit are rooted in research on tissue response to stimulus, restoring proper movement pattern prerequisites, and understanding recovery timelines. Keeping in mind that each patient is different, there is not a one size fits all but an understanding on how tissues need to be rehabbed to adapt in an appropriate fashion.

One of Dr. Dave's personal mantras is "Just show up," and he applies this directly to the rehab process. Just show up, and we will help you reach your goals, whether that is through care in our office or a referral to the right specialist. If we determine we can help your case, let's get after it.

CrossFit Injury & Performance Care in Barrington, Illinois

Dr. Dave's experience shapes the way we treat athletes at ChiroFit Chicago. Our goal is to help you stay active, continue training when appropriate, and return stronger with a smarter long-term plan.

If you've been discharged from formal rehab but aren't back to what you were doing, this is supervised progression rather than a printed home program: post-surgical and return-to-sport rehabilitation, planned around the movements your sport actually demands, with a doctor who has been through the same progression himself.

We commonly help athletes with:

  1. Low back pain from lifting
  2. Shoulder pain with overhead movements
  3. Knee pain with squatting or running
  4. Hip mobility limitations
  5. Overuse injuries from high-volume training

What your first two visits look like

No care plan is linear and having the correct information and diagnosis before we start treatment is paramount to designing a successful therapy program.

Your appointment starts when it's scheduled to start, a standard we hold ourselves to.

Before work · after work · Saturday mornings

Visit 1 takes about 30 to 40 minutes: your history, an examination, an assessment, and digital X-rays if they're warranted. If you do need imaging it's done here, that day, so you're not sent somewhere else and asked to come back.

Visit 2 is where you hear everything.

What was found, what the plan is, how your insurance applies and what it will cost, all before any treatment starts.

Your intake forms are done online before you arrive, so there's no clipboard and nothing standing between you and your appointment time.

You won't just be lying on a table.

You'll learn the movements that matter for what you're trying to get back to, and why each one is in the plan. You'll load the problematic patterns, ensuring resiliency and durability of the muscles, tissues and joints. Fixing the problem is great; building a body that lasts is the goal.

What it costs, and when you'll know

We accept most insurance plans. Upon your initial visit, we will request a copy of your insurance card to verify benefits. Should you require payment for a copay or co-insurance, we will promptly inform you of the applicable charges.

No insurance. No worries. Cash visits are available. The cost of a cash visit can vary between $65 and $100, contingent upon the specific services rendered during your initial appointment. We also offer cash pricing for routine visits, which can range between $50 and $75.

Your second visit is complimentary. That is where the findings, the plan and the cost are laid out, before any treatment starts.

Any additional testing, such as X-rays, will be discussed with you before it takes place. Shockwave, RPW and laser cost extra, and we will discuss that with you in advance. Outside our scope? We’ll refer you immediately.

Questions athletes ask

Will you tell me to stop training?

The goal is to have most athletes continue to train in some capacity around their injuries. There are multiple different ways to stay active, regress/modify exercises to continue to gain in other areas not affected by injury or pain limitations. Of course, no one rule applies but our staff will use a variety of assessment methods, testing as well as movement analysis to determine how to keep you safely training through your rehab process with us.

Can I book with Dr. Dave specifically?

Yes. There are three doctors here, in one location. You choose yours when you book, and you see the same one at every visit.

Can I be seen outside working hours?

Appointments start at 7 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and run until 7 PM Monday through Thursday. We also have Saturday mornings. On Mondays and Wednesdays the office is closed between noon and 2.

Do you treat CrossFit athletes and golfers?

Yes. Dr. Crosson competes in CrossFit and has competed at the CrossFit Games in the Masters division. He also holds TPI Level 2 Medical certification, which covers golf movement assessment. Chiropractic and physical therapy are combined in one plan at the Barrington office.
